For Women: How to Sabotage Your Raise

Mika Brzezinski has paid her dues, and now she wants to school you on the fine art of getting what you deserve.

Brzezinski is the co-host of Morning Joe on MSNBC and author of Knowing Your Value: Women, Money, and Getting What You’re Worth.

I’ve always found her easy to like. She’s one of those female personalities who has universal appeal, crossing demographic and gender lines. She works with a strong man, but is no shrinking violet. She’s not a sidekick or a foil. She’s a player, and I respect how she’s survived (and thrived) in the brutal world of broadcast and cable television.

I wonder if you come in too soft when you believe you deserve a raise.

Brzezinski did, and she learned a valuable lesson. Let me share it with you.

This blog is a little hypey (remind me not to pimp my upcoming book this way), but the words from Brzezinski are good.

Know your value. Love yourself. Ask for the money.
